As an Ontario resident, home owner, and Canadian-born Citizen, I would like to express my strong opposition to replace the Provincial Policy Statement and the Growth Plan. It is concerning that the policies being proposed - leading to the massive increase in housing production - would be at the expense of other important issues such as climate change, agriculture and climate change mitigation.
Residential boundaries are clear, and there is nothing wrong with developing within them. To implement the proposed changes would surely lead to decreased farmland and hurt natural areas we all enjoy. To hurt industry and the ability to be almost self-sufficient in terms of food production would be a turn for the worse. We are blessed with some of the best food production capability in the world.
Full transparency is needed regarding how the proposed changes will negatively affect the environment. Since developing land is not something that can be undone, the people of Ontario deserve to know how this will affect them for decades to come.
Thank you
