I support the Region of Waterloo's amendment. The region should be able to identify and permit the type of housing that makes sense and meets the specific needs of this area, while also adhering to its commitment to its citizens not to develop prime agricultural land, for which this region is known. This is in part why I oppose Bill 23 -- the province has overridden the best interests of the public by allowing land that has been identified already as sensitive and integral to preserving sustainability in southern Ontario to be developed.
