I am totally opposed to this proposal.
The Oro-Moraine is the result of a receding glacier that left aquifers of pure glacial water in the ground. We rely on this water from aquifers for our drinking water and all other household uses. When combined with other heavy users, e.g. aggregate producers, water bottling, large scale housing developments, etc. this proposal would significantly, and irreversibly, drain these aquifers.
Before Sarjeant is allowed to extract anywhere near to 130 million liters of water per year from the Oro-Moraine aquifers, objective scientific proof is required to assure local residents that our residential water supply will not be at risk. Once this resource is used up, we will never be able to recover.
