ALL permits to take water for these mining/aggregate companies should be for a "one time" offer only. They should be made to use the same water over and over. They must make certain that this "wash" water is "contained". They must make their own process as to how they reclean and reuse the "same" water. We continue to hear our Province say that they are "committed" to protecting our water and they do not. These are empty words. Water taking permits are handed out indiscriminately. There are no truly "sound" assessments being done. We are seeing this with the pristine groundwater in the Simcoe County Uplands at French's Hill; the recharge zone for the aquifer. Ontario citizens are beyond frustrated that millions of litres of our water are being used to wash gravel, while other parts of Ontario have boil water advisories. It is despicable. We need sound government rules to "protect" our water. The water is a much higher priority than gravel. It should be a crime to pollute our water. By that I mean how does Sarjeant plan to "return" the water. What an outrageous statement. Water taking permits should be Out of the question, unless it is "ONE TIME" only. We are in a climate change situation and still we give away our water like this to aggregate companies to wash gravel. It is despicable.
