This proposal ignores the reality that loss of valuable farmland is permanent and will have catastrophic impacts on the future or our province. Arable land is becoming scarcer and scarcer under the combined blows of climate change and unrestricted development. This land also protects environmental resources such as water and flood mitigating vegetation.

Forcing municipalities to toss carefully considered plans for growth with the aim of appearing to "get it done" serves neither the current or future population of Ontario. It may however serve the developers who seem to have an inappropriate influence on this government.
