Moving the existing flyash buried material to a proposed new landfill site within the existing area just makes for an accident waiting to happen. Especially given that the amendment would allow an 80 foot tall pile of other debris to accumulate until dealt with. Leachate from such a pile would be detrimental to all nearby waters especially the adjacent Mollie's Creek, which in turn empties into the East Sydenham River , only one kilometer away! The East Sydenham is known to home to several endangered species at risk (SAR). This has been well documented by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority ( SCRCA ). Please see their info in the following link.

Regarding Leachate; due to the multitude of highly concentrated water substances landfill leachate is one of the most difficult waste waters to treat. And by the way there is no mention of treating any leachate from that new landfill site.
Furthermore, the proposal is to include a storm water mngt system. Upon questioning the hydrologist being presented at the York1 town meeting last March 1st, it was stated by him the storm water ponds would overflow during the heavy rain events which have been and will continue to be experienced. This would further the detrimental affects of leachate getting into Mollie's Creek.
