Further to the Ministry’s request for feedback on the proposed amendments to the Official Plan Adjustments Act, 2023, we would like to again extend our appreciation for the opportunity to further engage with the Ministry and its staff on critical changes to planning in Wilmot Township.

As the Township plans for and introduces more housing, it is also seeking to balance its community area growth with continued opportunities for employment. The comments provided in the attached report, endorsed by Township of Wilmot Council, focus on four main areas with respect to changes to the Official Plan Adjustments Act, 2023:

1. Appreciation for the community area opportunities the Province has provided in the draft amendments.

2. Requesting the inclusion of lands as employment area consistent with the Township’s long-standing vision of consolidated and balanced growth between Baden and New Hamburg.

3. Minor designation clarifications to be consistent with planned land uses for the impacted areas and facilitate opportunities for more housing.

4. Correction of mapping of rural settlement areas to ensure that rural settlement boundaries are not inadvertently expanded.
