I strongly oppose this approval to amend the current environmental approval for the landfill located at 29831 Irish School Road in Dresden, Ontario.

This landfill was established in 1980 and the only reason they purchased the property is because it already has the environmental approval as a waste processing site. The fact that this is the reason for buying this property and why they are establishing a landfill and "recycling" facility here is very concerning to myself and all Dresden residents.

York1 should not be allowed to piggy-back of a 44 year old approval that allowed 95% ash from the town of Dresden alone, to expand this landfill to accept multiple kinds of waste including hazardous materials.

This site is only 1km from the town of Dresden, 1.5 km from the local high school and 2.5 km from the local elementary school.

This site also directly drains into Molly's Creek that borders the property on the East side. Molly's Creek then drains into the Sydenham River, where over 20 species of fish, mussels and reptiles live and are classified as "at risk", some only being found in this region in all of Canada. Leachate from the landfill could contaminate the local water supply and habitat to all of these at risk species.

Separate proposals to establish a waste recycling facility propose 24/7 operations at the site involving more than 700 trucks per day travelling to and from the site. The toll this kind of traffic will take on the community is unfathomable. This amount of increased traffic would cause incredible congestion, wear and tear on the roadways and a ton of noise and air pollution. Dresden and the surrounding area is a thriving agricultural community with plenty of slow-moving traffic throughout the year, providing additional risk as well.

I live 4.5 km from the site, along Dawn Mills Road which these 700 trucks will most likely take from the 401 to bypass travelling through downtown Dresden. I fear for the noise, dust and air pollution these trucks will cause and the damage to our local roadways, which we as taxpayers will have to pay for in the years to come.

I live there with my wife and two children who will be attending school in Dresden in the next couple of years. This proposal directly threatens our quiet, comfortable home and the health of our children both at home and when they go to school in the future.

Please do not let this proposal go through. Thank you.
