The proposal to introduce a referendum on carbon pricing is an abomination. Whatever mechanism we use to price carbon pollution, either the previous Cap and Trade system or the Federal Backstop, we need tpo price carbon pollution as one of the measures needed to limit the climate chaos that is already setting our woods and the rest of the world on fire. The supreme court has already ruled that the federal government has the right to impose this on every province. Quebec has chosen Cap and Trade. Our government, by cancelling the previous Cap and Trade regime in Ontario, chose to rely on the federal backstop represented by the carbon fee and dividend (or whatever it's will be caled tomorrow).

Some of the other measures in the act appear to be reasonable, but the carbon price needs to be eztracted from this bill and presented as its own legislation.
