This proposal is deeply concerning and to be quite frank, insulting.
The location in question is not an active landfill, so the statement "is an active landfill" is ignorant. This is taking advantage of grandfathered zoning where the town of Dresden buried ash over 30 years ago! It is not an active dump by any stretch of the imagination and is actually a thriving ecosystem with Molly's Creek.
It is extremely cruel to the citizens of Dresden to operate a large scale "recycling facility" that close to town. This operation will limit the town's ability to grow and will hands down decrease property value. It is a joke to refer to this operation as a recycling facility if there is an estimated date in which it will reach storage capacity. York1 has expressed that it will recycle nonhazardous materials, but this does not factor the increased traffic and leaching of heavy metals and fine dust into our waterway.
This is a TERRIBLE location for such a facility. You would be compromising an entire ecosystem with endangered species for the profit of a large company that is not even local. It is very cruel and insulting to the communities lifestyle. In other words "your agriculture and interest in the environment does not matter because York1 wants to make money".
There has to be a more suitable location for this facility! One that isn't within 1km of a thriving community, or surrounded by prime agricultural land.
Please, please, please do not approve this proposal
