I am unsure why a full environmental assessment was not required at the beginning of this process. It is finally encouraging that the Ontario government/ministry is trying to do the right thing and require an assessment.

If a company was renovating an abandoned building, they would require more than perfunctory approvals. The original course of action would have been tantamount to renovating an abandoned building with a handshake with the housing authority and only adhering to building code at the original era of build - clearly something that York 1 is trying to exploit.

Reopening a landfill that had been abandoned long before regulations to protect the environment with only vague promises and no regulations should be rejected. In order to open the proposed regenerative recycling facility and landfill, a full assessment must be required
