An environmental assessment…

Comment

An environmental assessment needs to be completed to provide accurate information pertaining to soil pollution. We need to be aware of what this landfill runoff and leachate will do to the soil we base our lives and earnings on. Soil pollution will decrease soil fertility and contaminate water used to irrigate our crops, destroying our livelihoods and forcing us to give up our farming community. There are examples of communities like Blenheim where a landfill has caused acres of farmland to become unusable due to soil leaching, this cannot happen to our town. We are aware of the risks and consequences this landfill poses, an environmental assessment must be done to prove that our concerns are valid and need to be considered moving forward.
