This legislation is not evidence based and will not accomplish any of its stated goals. It is a ridiculous assertion that provincial interference will do anything to reduce traffic congestion to ‘get you there faster’. Construction, lane closures, traffic infrastructure and investment and development of public transit are desperately needed, as is traffic enforcement and actual penalties for drivers who are constantly at fault. This legislation is deeply cynical, stripping municipalities of their ability to govern cities. What an incredible waste of time from a deeply unserious and incompetent provincial government.
