Re ERO # 019-9193. I am opposed to the construction of this facility and it's potential (using untried methods) for significant environmental damage. Based on the details provided by the OLT case OLT-22-003082, I do not believe that the dust will be contained in an open facility and will lead to contamination of both the Contact and Non-contact ponds. On page 11 of this decision the proponent intends to irrigate on-site crops with the water from the Contact pond but (on page 12) " .... the NASM does not limit the number of irrigation events." Thus any temporary containment of contaminated water has been negated by spreading a concentrated (??) mixture on adjacent lands. This should not be permitted as this is a water recharge zone who's surface water flows directly into the Sydenham River.
It is not worth the long term environmental damage to the municipality and watershed for short term financial gain of an individual.
Would they be required to post a bond or will taxpayers be picking up the bill?
