I am commenting on the proposal for an interim combined sewer in connection with development at Ontario Place. I am extremely opposed to this.

The proposal:
1) goes against years of work by the City to separate and replace combined sewers and prevent raw sewage from being discharged into Lake Ontario;
2) adds insult to injury for all who care about clean water and who use this area of the waterfront daily for sport and leisure;
3) poses a significant risk to human health by negatively impacting our local water quality;
4) counteracts all of the work done to date to protect our environment and access to clean, safe drinking and swimming water; and
5) poses a significant risk to the lake ecosystem during a time of extreme climate change and biodiversity loss.

The province has not held any meaningful consultations about this work with the general public. The proposal clearly benefits private construction initiatives to the detriment of all else. It does not consider the needs of the people who live by, and use, the area, or the ecological impact.

This proposal worries me and flies in the face of the ethical governance I expect from our government. I strongly, strongly urge you to deny this permit.
