Streamlining the permitting process for designated mining projects is not helpful nor do we need to protect the national mineral supply chain.
This will cause less environmental assessments and greatly impact the area, living spaces, drinking water and fragment the habitat of mining projects and nearby area. Could cause deep collapses of the tunnels, very risky work for humans to do, is not safe conditions to work in nor air to breathe.
Investing more in a closed loop recycling supply chain program would be more beneficial as canada does not have any recycling infrastructure and now the proposed tariffs will cause and cost us alot of time, money and trouble moving forward as we are not as a nation able to be independent and losing a lot from tariffs. Including not having our own finishing facilities like refineries etc so our own raw materials costs us even more to get back as finished goods.
Electricity act, will need to also look at grid capacity, because disrupting the waters will mine runoff sludge will also affect the hydroelectric power sources, not that the grid can match the growing rate of the city nor is the capacity far enough for more rural townships. It would be hard to power the work that is necessary for mien work without these improvements so it is not possible in the current conditions you have outlined and continue to strive for.
