Bill 5 is purely for economic gain. It disregards the environment, Indigenous peoples, and climate change. It will destroy many habitats for political and economic gain. The provincial government should “stop prioritizing the rights of private, industrial uses over respect for communities’ rights, including Indigenous law and sovereignty” (Nature Defence, 2025). This bill goes against so many years of fighting for environmental protection laws. Bill 5 is not written for the best interest of the people of Ontario.
