I was born and raised in Dresden. I’m a lifelong outdoorsman—someone who has hunted, fished, and spent countless hours on this land and in these waters. I’ve seen firsthand how rich and alive this region is. And I’ve also seen how quickly that balance can be threatened when people stop paying attention to the long-term health of the environment.

That’s why I’m deeply concerned about the proposed landfill and waste processing facility just outside our town.

This isn’t just a simple garbage site. What’s being proposed includes concrete crushing and soil washing—industrial processes that have the potential to seriously impact local ecosystems. What’s worse is that the company behind it has not provided a clear or safe plan for disposing of the wastewater these activities will produce.

As someone who relies on clean water, healthy soil, and thriving ecosystems—not just for recreation, but as a way of life—I find that terrifying.

Where will the wastewater go? How will it affect our wetlands, our streams, and our groundwater? Will the deer I hunt or the fish I catch still be safe to eat? Will the land I walk with my kids still be worth passing down?

We already have a functioning landfill that serves our local needs. Dresden is doing its part. But this project isn’t about us—it’s about taking on garbage from the GTA and pushing their waste onto a small rural town that didn’t ask for it.

There has been no full Environmental Assessment of this project. That is unacceptable. Any development of this scale—especially one involving the import of out-of-town waste and heavy industrial processes—must be studied properly before it is allowed to move forward.

I love this land. I respect it. I teach my children to respect it too. It’s part of our way of life here. And I won’t stand by while it’s put at risk without even the decency of a proper environmental review.

Please—require a full Environmental Assessment. Protect this land before it’s too late.
