Once again the provincial government is planning to destroy our valuable farmland, important wetlands and endangered species. As most Ontarians I want to be able to turn on the tap and find clean water, step outside and breathe clean air, purchase local food. All of this is being threatened by this bill.
My rights are being trampled on.
I live in Cambridge and am subject to pollution caused by thousands of acres of gravel pits close by. Does no one take into account that if you dig up all this gravel now you won't have any for the future, or farmland, or clean water? The water being contaminated because there is no gravel to filter out pollutants.
Why does the government refuse to manage these resources properly? Why does it fall on to individuals to fight for what should be obvious?
I am attaching a map that shows the massive number of gravel pits next to thousands of people in Cambridge. This brings cancer causing particulate matter into our backyards. We are getting sick and this will cost in health bills. As one person said in a town council meeting, "You would think in Canada you would have clean air to breathe"
The people don't want this bill. Do not pass this bill for the sake of our future.
