Habitat loss is death by a thousand cuts, both small and large. This has been happening continuously especially under the Ford govt. We are now in a biodiversity crisis and should be finding ways to protect critical landscapes, not loosen rules and regs. I have seen firsthand what this loss looks like as a small meadow on the other side of our backyard fence was plowed under and developed with oversized expensive houses 5 years ago on the edge of London, ON. That was the last year I could watch a nesting Eastern Meadowlark use this land, taken over by humans - habitat hogs. Did anyone even notice other than me? There were many other insects and birds connected to this field too. The only voice wildlife can have is through those of us who care.

Our provincial govt, has a responsibility to species other than ourselves, and that includes protecting those under threat including their habitat. I watched a bulldozer plow right up and around a Killdeer nest in that same field. Gave it about a 10 ft. buffer but disturbance like that is what this bill would like to allow. The Killdeer left the location, needless to say. This is the kind of harassment the Bill 5 wants to allow.

I am very concerned about loosening restrictions in the Ring of Fire area. If the process is slow, its because nature is complex and the environmental process should be thoughtful and measured. I am against Bill 5
