I am writing to object to Bill 5. Once again Premier Doug Ford and his government are using misguided belief that the people of Ontario want the Ford Government to give themselves legislation that undermines the rights of Ontario citizens, disregards the framework of decision making in cities, towns and municipalities and seeks to negate the rights of our indigenous people.
Ontario resident's did not vote for the Ford Government to give themselves special powers in order to bulldoze their projects ahead with no oversight. Doug Ford and his government are trying to circumvent the process of public involvement in the work of local and provincial government. This Bill 5 is outrageous in its imprudence and alarming in the breadth of planning to dismantle the rights and freedoms Ontarians have expected and are committed to through legislation and bylaws. This Bill 5 reflects an appalling power grab, if we had impeachment in our province's politics I'd vote to impeach Premier Ford. He clearly misunderstands his duty to myself and other residents of Ontario, he was elected to deal with the new reality of Trump and not to dismantle our Province's integrity as a democratic society! Shame, shame on Premier Ford and his Conservative Government!
