I am writing today to acknowledge my support for the City of Hamilton and the MZO to push forward the demolition of the Jamesville housing project and development of the mixed use, low-income proposed development to replace the space. It is disheartening and sickening that the CN railway has blocked this project for so long, without any logical reasoning. There is already ample residential housing around the railway track and stockyard, including the development itself that was located there prior to it being torn down. This entire country is in a housing crisis, and the people that were forced out of that affordable housing years ago have added to the large population of people waiting desperately for dignified and affordable living--which everyone has a right to. The Ontario government has run on an entire campaign of "build baby build," (while trying to build in environmental areas that should remain untouched like the greenbelt). This is a perfect location of city housing in an urban center that can build up not out. Please do your due diligence and help the City of Hamilton push this through.
