We are a young couple living in the North End and have watched this vacant lot sit unused for as long as we’ve been here. It’s become increasingly unsightly and is now a gathering spot that feels unsafe at times. Redevelopment of this site would be a welcome and much-needed improvement for the area. This is a prime piece of land near Bayfront Park, the GO Station, and James Street North, and revitalizing it could truly uplift the entire neighbourhood. Our main hopes for the development are that it includes mixed-income housing as proposed, maintains a maximum height of 8 stories to preserve the neighbourhood’s character, incorporates some space for local businesses, and ensures sufficient parking to avoid overflow into surrounding streets.
