As a retired environmental scientist, I can say with certainty that the Ontario government's proposed changes to water-taking in our province will harm the water supply that we, as taxpayers, need to stay healthy and survive through future more frequent heatwaves and droughts. The global climate emergency is all too real and we need to conserve our water resources today instead of using short-sighted and profit-motivated schemes. I don't trust this government to protect my family's right to a healthy and stable water supply. This water selling proposal will degrade water courses here over time and this idea should be put to a public vote before any decisions are made. Water is the most basic NEED for human life. We would die without a healthy supply and this is just too irresponsible. Like the many lies and schemes we're getting from the Ford government, this is just another VERY BAD money-making idea that can only lead to Ontarians suffering and paying the price for poor government planning AGAIN -- urban sprawl, the Greenbelt fiasco (ongoing), the Science Centre lies, the sketchy mega-spa company in Toronto, the traffic tunnel idea in Toronto, the bad beer pricing scheme that threatened some beer company's livelihood, the terrible licence plate plans that made it sound like drivers were prostituting themselves, removing almost every environmental protection that benefits humans in Ontario (not just turtles and frogs!), etc... Seriously, how can we trust this poorly thought out plan when the Ford government just lost their case for the removal of bicycle lanes in Toronto BECAUSE THE PROVINCE'S ACCUSATIONS WERE FALSE! Bicycle lanes do not impede traffic in any way, so removing them came from some other unreasonable motivation of the Ford's government. So, what could that be? Save and protect our water in Ontario because WE NEED IT! Do not sell it off for profit, please! You can look up a dozen news articles about the Premier's loss concerning the bike lanes in Toronto, and I certainly don't have to defend the GLOBAL CLIMATE EMERGENCY which the Ontario Conservatives choose to ignore completely! We cannot trust this government to keep our water supply in Ontario safe - it's very clear that we're playing with fire here! These water-taking changes are the worst idea the Ford government has come up with yet actually. It's dangerous and very uncaring towards our families. The job definition of a politician is PROTECT THE PUBLIC! Ford is not doing his job by selling off our most precious resource. Is it not bad enough that he's already put every endangered species at serious risk by removing their necessary protections? We protect our environment so that it is healthy for humans to use and live in -- Ford's government needs an education on the direct and indirect connections between nature and human life -- we are all part of one ecosystem on Earth. Science is also real -- and correct far more often than Ford's government! SAVE OUR WATER PLEASE.
