This is a proposal to destroy homes in order to build houses.
Stripping environmental protections for species at risk, particularly birds, weakens the ecosystem upon which we depend and which contributes to our quality of life. Less biodiversity means a less resilient civilization, and that is a really high price to pay for the sake of short term profit.

Revoking the protection of habitats in favour of just the dwelling of critically threatened species is akin to killing them outright. It would be like leaving someone's house standing, but destroying their entire neighbourhood around them including all utility access. Yeah, the house is there and standing, but they may not leave it anymore, they can't procure food, or water or anything else they may need to live. All of the things that makes Canada a place worth living for us and for the species that we share it with, what makes Canada a home, are imperiled by this disregard.

I urge our leaders to think of what sort of country we want to leave for future generations. The economic growth you pursue needs to be sustainable in order to be of any value to them, otherwise it will fizzle out as well. I don't want my kids to live in a world where there is less life. where the breadth of life is suffocated by this sort of greed.
