Dear Minister and Review Team,

I am writing as an ornithologist-in-training and committed field naturalist to express my opposition to the proposed amendments. My concerns are numerous, but I am especially worried about the exclusion of many species and habitats previously covered under the Endangered Species Act, greatly narrowing the scope of provincial protections for many ecologically important species. The proposed amendments will also undermine Indigenous rights and connections to land and the species that call it home. If the provincial government’s intention is to strengthen ties with Indigenous groups, it must also strengthen protections to their resources.
