Board governance. Do not allow this to be municipal appointed board. The work is too important. Board members should be skills based and with CA submit matter expertise. The mistake would be to leave governance as it is today. It has been proven in our jurisdiction that the current governance structure can ruin an organization and impede the work it and it staff does. No matter how many years in council, those members of the CA board are all responsible for the mess of this organization. Experience as a council member does not equate to good or appropriate or sound board governance experience. Ultimately the general population using the services suffers. Have a municipal committee for a specific purpose appointed sure, to provide input on certain issues at specific times. It does not need to be council members. Planning staff? Please don't make the same error when this new CA is created. Our region deserves better. In fact please step in and up to dissolve the current board under the current structure asap. Too few qualified staff are left and those who are terrified they will be fired if they say anything against the way things are as the board is now an operational one led by the same people who allowed things to reach this critical stage.
