The proposed merger of the LRCA with Southern Ontario regions on the shores of Lake Huron seems insane. I hope that the TBFN and our regional municipalities served by the LRCA will give strong feedback to Kevin Holland about how stupid this proposal is in terms of making services more efficient. A CA possibly headquartered 1200 kilometres away is the opposite of efficient.
This seems like a loony idea cooked up in Queen’s Park.
I believe this is a move by the governing party of Ontario to get insiders connected to the party in charge of conservation, and in order to subvert local control of CA activities. This small group would no longer serve the municipalities in their region but instead the political agenda of the provincial government. This consolidation of power smacks of the same ideology as getting rid of local school board trustees. Everything run from Queen’s Park is a bad idea, period…. In fact, if Mr. Ford considers consolidating all power in the south, he resembles Mr. Trump more than a Canadian leader.
