” I am unconvinced merging the existing authorities into a handful of much larger authorities each which would encompass many more communities large and small could “ maintain and strengthen relationships with local communities and stakeholders”. Surely duplication and inconsistencies between the existing authorities can be addressed through investments in communications and network technology? I can only see an erosion of democracy and community input and involvement with the consolidation being proposed here.
