The formation of such regional conservation authorities will inevitably result in reduced efficiency, transparency and accountability. We need conservation authorities that have local knowledge of conditions and geography. This reorganization is part of the Provincial Government's efforts to neutralize the interests of conservation and environmental activists, to the advantage of developers who already are subject to far too little oversight. This is about Doug Ford and his developer friends. We know the Tories are going to push this through no matter what we say. It's crap. And the rural communities, once their conservation lands and water systems are ruined, will stop voting for the Tories.
