The proposal to merge the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority with an entity from southern Ontario is the most embarrassingly stupid idea this government has put forward yet. There are no current problems or issues with the LRCA, particularly none that hinder development. The area currently served by the LRCA bares no resemblance that of southern Ontario. The issues dealt with in the north are totally different than in the south. The distance covered by the proposed new, merged
entity would be too vast and would be unworkable.
This idea was clearly developed by bureaucrats from Toronto who have never set foot north of Barrie.
They have no idea where Northwestern Ontario is, what the issues are up here, or what life is like up here. If they want to learn what is happening up here they should take the 1,400 km drive and see if fro themselves.
Leave the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority alone.
