Hi, the decision to consolidate these regions is reckless and irresponsible, especially in a time where conservation efforts are critical to ensure preservation of our natural habitats as long as possible. As an Ontarian who has spent time living in the northwest, south, and east of the province, I'm confident the consolidation of the Huron region with the Lakehead region would be devastating for conservation in the Lakehead region.

These regions experience vastly different climates and contain vastly different ecosystems that need autonomous, local expertise and management to stay healthy. With decision-making in Ontario being typically skewed towards southern regions, I'm concerned the Lakehead region will get left behind, stripped of essential resources and lose it's ability to adequately take care of and preserve one of Ontario's most beautiful and important environmental regions.

Please do not consolidate Lakehead with the Huron region. Our environments are already under intense pressure from a changing climate and we need to do everything in our power to keep them intact if we want a fighting chance at having a healthy environment for our children. What happens in one region, impacts the rest--neglecting the north will only cause problems for the south. And do not forget NWO is home to Ontario's most abundant source of fresh water and sustainably harvested wood...two things that are highly reliant on the maintenance of healthy ecosystems.
