I disagree with the Provinces proposed consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities. The Province claims that this consolidation would create efficiencies but they do not clarify what exactly those efficiencies would be. It most certainly would not create more efficient local representation or assessment of risks to our area. The purpose of our conservation authority is protect and manage our public lands in the best interests of our community. Those interests vary from one region to another. A conservation authority, and local government over a hundred miles away has no interest and no idea what is best for us in our community. Our public lands are not a business to be run like a grocery store chain. They are a very valuable and personal asset that only we can manage for ourselves. It is no secret that the PC Government under Mr. Ford is prone to dishonest and devious motivations when taking control of everything around us. The Green Space fiasco. The Island Spa and Ontario Science Centre fiascos are burning examples of why we do not trust the PC government to act our best interests. They always have a hidden agenda.
