I am wary of the changes…

I am wary of the changes proposed to the boundaries. Too little is spent on our care for the environment at present. I worry the provincial government will further erode the powers and increasingly limit the role and influence of the conservation authority with these boundary changes.

It would positively impress me to see:

- the number of employees for the Conservation Authority to go up significantly, not down.

- conservation to rank highest in our governments’ mandates.

- developments, including housing, mines, logging and the like to stay away from sensitive areas as defined by the Conservation Authority.

- the Conservation Authority to have the ability to VETO developments and other projects that threaten our environment, that is: land, water, air, peaceful settings, and the like.

If the changes to the boundaries will guarantee the above concerns will be addressed, I would be interested in seeing how the change plays out.
