I'm a financial consultant working with one of the conservation authorities. I grew up participating in programming at one of the sites managed by this conservation authority.

As a financial consultant, I can understand the pressures and need to balance budgets. I believe the proposed changes to boundaries would actually result in significant increases in expenses, rather than reducing costs. Many of these conservation authorities have contracts with private industry service providers and vendors that have serious implications for breaking or transferring authorities.

While I can understand that the current configuration of Conservation Authorities may seem unwieldly or complex, to my understanding they have been shaped by the very treaties and history of this province. The changes I would like to see for our shared futures require that people who know and understand the places where we live share responsibility over them. I do not see this proposed bill as something that aligns with my own visions for a better future, and instead consider it typical for a future where each of us who lives here is increasingly less involved or concerned with what happens at a local level.

If more oversight was truly necessary, the proposed boundaries should *add* more positions for people to participate, not decrease them. We should be creating more opportunities, especially for younger generations, to participate and directly impact the places where they live.
