I am very concerned about the changes proposed by the Ontario government to the Conservation Authorities. It seems clear from all I have heard from others and the studies that have been done, that there is no significant savings from amalgamation. Besides, the province contributes very little to the financial costs. By far, the Municipalities give the most. They should be the ones making decisions.
I live very near to the Beaver River and I know how important it is to have my LOCAL Authority able to respond quickly and with knowledge of the area. The changes proposed lack clarity but it appears to me that amalgamation is a backward step and NOT helpful in these days of severe climate change. Please do not move forward with this plan.
