Consolidating conservation authorities is a terrible idea. Each CA that currently exists manages a unique ecosystem with unique needs, which simultaneously protects the people of Ontario from environmental disaster and protects the environment from the impacts of people. They do crucial work to support climate change, prevent the spread of disease, species, and pest, which has the potential to decimate economic sectors, and provide recreation and education to our citizens and visitors. By removing the ability for local CAs to manage what they know best and centralizing operations, you remove the safeguards and protections they offer. Larger CAs will not be able to keep up with the demands of so many unique ecosystems. It is important to keep the CAs as small as possible in order to maintain Ontario's ecosystem and to keep the sprawl of people at bay.
