I’m concerned about the amalgamation of Grand River Conservation Authority with other Ontario conservation authorities. I believe there has been significant work locally to ensure the best interest of the local ecology and I don’t believe a larger entity will do as good a job with each local area. I’m also concerned that environmental needs will take a back seat when they should be one of the first considerations in decisions. This government has a history of dismantling the planning work, that has been done by local governments and staff, that has taken water conservation and long term viability into consideration. I don’t trust that the integrity of the work of the local conservation authorities will be upheld in a larger entity that oversees such vast geographical areas
