I would like to register my opposition to this proposed amalgamation of the existing conservation authoritoes (CAs).
The reasons for my opposition are as follows:

The voice I the smaller municipalities wil be lost in these larger more cumbersome structures yet they will be required to provide a share of the funding;

The existing CAs know their local watersheds, the larger structures will not be able to address the needs of the local conditions;

The primary objective of the CAs have been to protect the natural features of the watershed, prevent flooding (the experience of Hurricane Hazel) and help manage development within their watershed. It would appear that the focus of the new amalgamated CAs will be to focus of development rather than protection of the natural features of the watershed;

The centralization of both the amalgamated CAs and the higher level organization is a concentration of authority /power and is basically undemocratic.

This continued eroding of the responsibilities of the existing CAs and the lack of robust ministries of Environment and Natural Resources is foregoing the natural heritage of the province for the existing and future citizens, shameful.

I also note that an overwhelming number of municipalities are opposed to this amalgamation, this must signal something to the government.
