I have worked with the MNR ( 1983-1998) northern Ontario and with a Conservation Authority for 20 years.
My personal view of increasing the the size of districts and watersheds is the loss of small community input and knowledge . The concerns and front line experience at the local level is over shadowed by larger centers and big business. The north shore of Lake Erie holds many species at risk in Canada. Often the red tap which the Ford government refers to are procedures to conserve habitat for these species. There is a real lack of concern for the environment with this current government which seems to hold short term interest and personnel gains over a healthy long term future of ecosystems .
Bigger is not always better ! I seen this happen first hand in northern Ontario. It becomes the GTA area that makes the decisions for rural areas . Please let us preserve the small nature areas we have left with our local communities !
