The OMB existed solely to insulate elected officials from responsibility for (unpopular, developer-friendly) planning decisions.
Eliminating the OMB was a way to return responsibility for planning decisions to elected politicians. And so to allow more public control.
This proposed legislation is as UNpopulist as legislation can be. It is as undemocratic as legislation can be. It does have the benefit of making unpopular development easier.
Developers will love it. The little guy won’t understand it. And you will no doubt get away with it. Politicians will be better protected from the public. And developers will show you their gratitude.
