I support the extension to maintain sustainable forest management practices to balance existing environmental, social and economic objectives. It should be five years instead of two to make sure that the panel can work through the very complex issues associated with sustainable forest management. An inadequate solution would have catastrophic impact on existing infrastructure and social environment, negative impact on First Nation communities. It will kill thousands of jobs and cause significant criminalization in huge areas. European experience in Austria, Sweden, Finland is showing that sustainable forest management helps to harmonize social, environmental and economical aspects. I believe it should be successful in Canada considering much lower population and industry density. Don't forget - one job in pulp and paper making creates around 10 jobs. Let's make Canada strong and less dependent to oil and gas!
