It is completely unacceptable to extend cottage leases in Rondeau Provincial Park , thereby failing to honour the earlier declaration that the leases are to be terminated in 2017. All cottagers entered into their leases with the full knowledge that they would not be renewed after that date.
Rondeau Park is a refuge for dozens of species at risk that depend on protected habitat within Ontario's heavily developed south, including birds, amphibians, turtles, flowers ,and trees in Rondeau's marshes, sloughs, and sand dunes.
The proposal to allow leases to remain in place until 2038 subverts the number one priority clearly stated in the1986 Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Acts TO MAINTAIN ECOLOGICAL INTEGRITY.
