As an Ontario resident, I urge the Ontario government to halt the Spring bear hunt. The Spring bear hunt was previously cancelled because of issues with killing mother bears and leaving orphan cubs. Baiting in the Spring exacerbates this. Banning the hunting of mothers with young will not prevent orphan cubs, who are hidden while their mother is foraging. Furthermore, hunting bears does not reduce issues with 'nuisance bears'. I strongly oppose extending the Spring bear hunt.
