The key date for changes to the leaseholders of record is Sept.1, 2010 at 4:30 PM. Why was this information not made public? Is this how a democratic government works in 2010? What would have been wrong with giving people most affected, a window of 8 weeks to get their 'house in order'? Where is the transparency and open communication with authorities that a liberal and not a dictatorial governmnent should be demonstrating. This smacks of sneekiness and an abuse of power! Heads we win, tails you lose!!
Why is there no recognition from the MNR as to the economic benefit to the local community from the Rondeau cottagers? I live in Toronto and yet I purchase almost my property insurance from a Ridgetown insurance company for my Toronto house and the Rondeau cottage and have been doing so for more than 20 years. How about the lawncutter, the plumber to open and close each year, the three rooves that have been installed and numerous improvements over a 22 year period all purchased locally.
If every penny counts in McGuinty's Ontario, then why did Ontario Realty spend over $1,000,000 purchasing and destroying Rondeau cottages and losing thousands in lease fees annualy and now many more millions will be lost if this proposal is allowed to stand.
Why is there no acknowledgement as to themoney Rondeau cottagers contribute to the public purse, each and every year.
