I hope that this truly makes producers responsible for the waste they create. Fines need to be given. It has been too long that producers have distracted consumers into thinking their waste was a consumer problem.

My child and our next generation should not have to worry about how safe our water, food and air is. Building a reuse culture needs to be the primary focus. Not long ago we lived without much of these 'convenience' disposable items. No longer are we able to live with a throw away mindset. Our future depends on it.

Better recycling practices is good as long as the legislation is clear without gaps for the producers to slip through and make another single use item that is touted as 'green'. Supposedly biodegradable or compostable is still one use.

It is crucial that education includes true circular economy concepts. The onus is on the producer.
