I have heard that the government of Ontario plans to" repeal sections of the Electricity Act, 1998 and the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998 that were introduced under the Green Energy and Green Economy Act, 2009 to promote and prioritize the development of renewable energy".

Has the government read James Hansen's book "Storms of my Grandchildren: The truth about the coming climate catastrophe and our last chance to save humanity"? Dr. Hansen worked for NASA and sent the first probe to Venus. They discovered it used to have water on it that got boiled off and he began to wonder about Earth's atmosphere.

At first he wasn't concerned about climate change because it's been hotter before, but as he studied it he became alarmed. (And he said he has a placid temperament not prone to alarm.)

He said we need to focus strongly on switching to renewables and only use easy-to-access gas to assist us as we switch over, but if we continue to frack etc. climate change will go out of our control, guaranteed.

We cannot wait until things get "too hot". Due to physical laws, if we stopped dead on carbon emissions today, the planet would still continue to heat for many decades. Feedback loops could take climate change out of our control.

Open ocean absorbs more heat than ice; the tundra is melting which releases methane which is much more potent greenhouse gas than CO2. In other words, the more things thaw, the faster things will thaw and heat up even if we stop adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere ourselves directly.

Another huge problem is methane hydrates which are fully loaded and would cause huge sudden warming.

"Contrarians have a loud voice, out of proportion with their scientific standing....there is a growing gap between what is understood about global warming by the relevant scientific community and what is known about global warming by the public and policy makers."p. 168

In other words, get your information from climate scientists.

I support all legislation that assists us in switching over to renewables as quickly as possible, pls don't gut our legislation. I'm 55 and healthy and I'm not sure climate change won't cut my life short. Pls pay attention to climate scientists.

Aside , it's been proven for decades that nuclear is not a possible solution due to the limited time we have to get off carbon. If you want a nuclear option in addition to renewables, he does have a unique possible option he thinks is worth researching and exploring, but it's theoretical. Renewable is guaranteed and should be our first priority.

(I know reading a book is hard work and takes time, but given the quality of information in the book, and given the gravity of this situation, I highly recommend you read the book so I'm not leaving a website address other than to his book.)

Thank you.
