Everyone would like products…

Everyone would like products to cost the minimum amount of money, as close to the material & labour costs as possible. However, producing a product may come at a hidden cost to the environment, part of it's 'true' cost, that mostly goes ignored. Prices should include this cost explicitly, so they are closer to this 'true' cost; so consumers and businesses will choose products and practices that better reflect 'true' cost.

One of the most market-friendly ways to do this is with carbon credit based system. Markets in general also work better if they are larger, which is exactly the plan of the previous government. Furthermore, with the revenue from this system, the government will invest in technologies and processes that reduce the impact of our way-of-life on this finite planet.

Finally, I'm actually not entirely against no-action, as consistent Canadian carbon taxing system (via the federal goverment's plan) might be a better idea. It seems likely that any constitutional challenge will be rejected.
