As a citizen who lives in the Niagara region in which Port Colbourne and Welland deal with many after effects of pollutants (air and water) from the 1950's-70's era for which the industrial polluters have folded (i.e. are not accountable ), I urge not only that the cap and trade restrictions on industry be maintained, but that it be improved such that a fee-and-dividend plan ascribe the value of pollutants and return the money to environmental restorationand to the development of Green Energy in Ontario . This is now an exciting(i.e. growing) area for investment and jobs and it behoves the Ontario government to get involved- perhaps with the reputed billion dollars that sits in the fledgeling cap and trade account?

Forest fires and water depredations by mega companies (i.e. Nestle) are impossible for individual citizens to fight and require the collective efforts of. government and services not only in containing but in preventing. All fossil fuel subsidies should end. Legally binding emissions targets (the Paris Climate Agreement remains the minimum standard to which Ontarians should aspire) should be enforced in a robustly followed-through prosecutorial culture.

Our grandchildren deserve this and we depend on our elected government to step up. In conclusion, the cancellation of the cap and trade act in this proposed Bill 4 runs counter to the present health and future prosperity of Ontarians-- this Bill 4 cancellation should itself be abandoned until a proper, more stringent and clear climate plan is put into place.
