According to the recent report from the Intergovermental Panel on Climate Change: Limiting global warming to 1.5°C would require rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society.

The IPCC is made up of scientists from around the world with expertise in the area of climate change. Climate change is real and pressing. While it is commendable that the new provincial government wants to develop its own climate change policy, there is no time to wait in taking action to reduce carbon emissions. There is no reason why the cap and trade program needs to be cancelled which this government develops its own climate change policy. Both can happen simultaneously and that would address the urgency of our climate crisis. And it is crisis, thousands of scientists agree on this.
